15 days Lhasa to Mt Kailash tour Via Everest Base Camp is one of the best overland tour in Tibet.  You can explore the world highest mountain Everest and also one of the holiest Mt  Kailash  for the Buddhist, Bon and Hinduism pilgrimage site and also for the some of the holy lake like Laka manasarovar, Yamdrok lake etc……

Day 01: Arrive at Lhasa

ELEV: 3650 m

Our guide and driver will come to Lhasa airport or train station and transfer you to hotel for acclimatization; you can have your free time hanging out at this holy city to get the first impression of Tibet. (Overnight night in Lhasa)

Day 02: Lhasa-Jokhang temple-Sera monastery

Morning visit The Jokhang temple is the most sacred temple in Tibet . In Tibetan language it refers to “Buddha’s house” because the main statue is said to be made by Buddha Sakyamuni himself time. The Jokhang temple is the convergence of Tibet’s spiritual and secular life. Here you can meet all kinds of tribes from the Tibetan plateau. The surrounding market is called “Bakhore”. One of the most important religious paths,  Afternoon visit The Sera monastery is  founded by Jamchen Chojey, one of Tsong Khapa’s disciples built the monastery in 1419. The monastery is magnificent and covers an area of 114,946 square meters. As a complex of structures, it housed several institutions in its precincts. The structures of notability were the Coqen Hall Tsokchen (Great Assembly Hall), the three colleges and Kamcun (dormitory) also called Homdong Kangtsang. Scriptures written in gold powder, fine statues, scent cloth and unparalleled murals can be found in these halls. Colorful debates on Buddhist doctrines are held here and these employ a style distinctive from those at Lhasa’s other famous monasteries(Overnight in Yak hotel 1 double room with included breakfast)

Day 03: Lhasa -Potala palace-Norbulingka summer palace

Morning visit The Potala palace towers above the city of Lhasa as the national landmark that allures the international visitors. The massive 13-storeyed building used to be the former abode for the Dalai lamas. It looks incredibly magnificent from a distance and could be viewed from various places around town. As the nation’s supreme relic, the palace dates back to the seventh century A.D.  Afternoon visit the Norbulingka summer palace the former summer palace of Dalai Lama. Explore the beautiful gardens and experience one of the most holy sites in Tibetan Buddhism while soaking up the rich history. (Overnight in Yak hotel 1 double room with included breakfast)

Day 04: Lhasa-Yamdrok lake -Karola glacier -Gyangtse-Kumbum stupa-Phelchoe monastery-Shigatse(360km)

The first day we drive westwards to Mt.Kailash will reach Shigatse, which is the second biggest city in Tibet. on the way to Shigatse, we will pass kangpa-la with 4794m, from the top of the pass in clear weather, we can see the Yamdrotso lake in fabulous shade of deep turquoise, Just a few kilometers’ driving through the shore of lake yamdrok-yutso reaches Nangartse county and is the largest town on the lake side. and stop luch at Nangartse town and after finished lunch drive toward Gyangste, after half hours  you have to cross the 5050m karo-la pass  with its awesome roadside views of the Nanchan- Kangtsang glacier. in Gyantse city, you will explore the Kubum Monastery which is the town’s foremost attraction. The 35m-high chorten(stupa) with its white layers trimmed with decorative stripes and its crown-like goldendome, is awe-inspiring. drive to Shigatse only 2 hrs drive (Overnight in Yak hotel in Shigatse 1 double room with included breakfast)

Day 05: Shigatse-Lhatse town-New Tingri-Everest Base Camp(350km)

ELEV: 5008 m

Today we will drive straight to EBC by crossing several passes along the way, you will have the first views of mighty Himalayans from the pass of Gyatso la(5400m) after Lhatse and distant view of Mt. Everest from its viewing point soon after climb down Gyatso la, shortly after the border check point at Shegar, turn off the Friendship Highway and drive toward south in the valley, cross over the Gawu la pass[5250m] through zigzags road, from the pass you will amaze the spectacular Himalayan Ranges and its mighty peaks beyond 8000m, Mt.Makalu(8463m), Mt.Lotse(8516m), Mt.Everest(8844m), Mt.Cho Oyu(8201m) and Mt.Shishapama(8020m) from Left to right, climbing down through numbers of switchback bends lead to the dry valley of Tashi Zom and then finally the day’s destination – Everest Base Camp located in the Rongbuk valley. Rongbuk is the highest monastery in the world and it consist both monks and nuns. Afternoon you have an option to do a short trekking from the tent guesthouses community to E.B.C, it will take you about 2 hours or more per your physical condition (6Km). Or you can take the dedicated minibus instead. We suggest you to bring your own sleeping bags for the night if available as the local tent guesthouses reuse the blankets for several weeks due to their poor facility. Overnight at local tent guesthouses except from Nov – Mar where the tent guesthouses close and only Rongbuk monastery guesthouse is available.

Note: before leaving Shigatse, your guide need some time to obtain the ATP from the local PSB, ATP is also known as Alien’s Travel Permit and it is a permit that should be issued for the border check at Shegar(Overnight in tent city guesthouse dorm room bases)

Day 06: Everest Base Camp-Old tingri-Mt Shishapangma  view-Pekui sto lake-Saga(250km)

ELEV: 4610 m

Today view of Mt Everest sunrise and view of 5 highest himalaya ranges and drive toward old Tingri from there you can have a nice view of Mt Everest and Mt JowoOyu and stop lunch and Old Tingri and drive to toward Saga on the way you can have view of Mt Shishapangma(8012m) which is one of the highiest mountrain fully located in Tibet after that you can see Phelcu sto lake. and after several passes you can reach to Sage town(Overngiht in Guesthouse)

Day 07: Saga-Paryang-Darchen(485km)

ELEV: 4670 m

Today the thrilling journey across the dry and vast plain with stunning views of great Himalaya in the south and Trans-Himalayan in the north, the moonscape plain of the region is home for sparse lone nomads whose lifestyle remains close to what it has been for centuries, and numbers of plateau wild lives. Different natural landscapes like sand dunes and picturesque mountain views are not only the great beauty of the day but also the holy lakes and mountains. Then we will reach to the Manasarovar Lake (victorious lake) in the late afternoon, which is one of the holiest lakes in Tibet and every year it receives hundreds of hundreds of pilgrims from all corner of Tibetan plateau, India and Russia. The lake is surround by several prominent peaks like Gurla Mandata (7760m). Then we will further drive to Darchen which is the starting point of the Mt Kailash (7762m) trekking, you will also have great view of the Kailash from the front. Darchen is a small nomadic village and now increasing number of guesthouses and restaurants make it more commercial. At your arrival you have plenty of time to explore around the town and prepare for the trekking, you can also hiking around the hills to get physically ready for the trekking. In the afternoon, your guide will arrange others trekking necessities like porters and yaks for your luggage transportation. You can find different restaurants according to your taste or your guide will help you to find some better ones. (Overnight at Darchen guesthouse)

Day 08: First day of Kailash trek: Darchen to Diraphuk monastery(20km walk, 6hrs)

ELEV: 5080 m

This Kailash circuit covers 53 kms and can be done in 3 days. We head west in clockwise direction and after a few kilometers the trail climbs up to a cairn at 4730 m from where the southern face of Mt. Kailash comes to view. En route visit Tarboche where annual flagpole raising ceremony takes place during Saga Dawa.( Overnight in Diraphuk guesthouse )

Day 09: Second day of Kailash trek : Diraphuk to Zultrulphuk(18km walk, 7-8 hrs)

ELEV: 4820 m

Today we cross Drolma la pass (5630 M) and Gauri Kund Lake (5608 m) where Hindus worship and immerse themselves in the icy waters of the lake.Overnight in Zultrukphuk guesthouse)

Day 10: Third day of Kailash Trek: Zultrulphuk-Darchen(14km walk, 3-4hrs)  drive to Lake Manasarovar(60km)

ELEV: 4560 m

After the Circumambulating of Kailash. drive to Laka Manasarovar . it’s good time to take good shower in hot spring and relax (overngiht night in Lake Manasarovar gueshouse)

Day 11: Lake Manasarovar drive back to Saga(435km)

ELEV: 4610 m

Drive back with same route(Overnight in Saga guesthouse)

Day 12: Saga-Lhatse-Shigatse(500km)

ELEV: 3900 m

Enjoying the stunning landscape along the way. Drive through typical Tibetan villages where you can see how normal Tibetans live surviving.(Overnight in Shigatse Yak hotel 1double room with included breakfast)

Day 13: Shigatse -Lhasa(280km)

ELEV: 3650 m

The primary target today is the giant monastery in Shigatse city, (Tashilunpo Monastery), the preaching place of Panchen Lama who is the most prestigious Tibetan leader in vast Shigatse Prefecture. Tashilunpo Monastery is one of the four famous monasteries of Gelugpa Sect where travelers can look up at the tallest copper statue of Future Buddha. Memorial photos can be taken at the gate of the giant monastery.The alternative choice for those not interested is to ramble in Shigatse area.(free of charge), the exclusive relaxing place in Tibet where travelers will have the chance to view Brahmaputra sightseeing, grasslands in desert, sand dunes and Tibetan incense workbenches.  We are returning to Lhasa after lunch. On the whole way, what will be permanently impressive are unique Tibetan customs, the small valley of River Brahmaputra and alpine scenery(Overnight in Lhasa Yak hotel 1 double room with included breakfast)

Day 14: Rest day in Lhasa

Today rest day in Lhasa without guide and explore Lhasa city by your self and also you have time to shopping by yourself. (Overnight in Yak hotel 1double room with included breakfast)
